Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. In 1967 Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. Then, in 1992 she was named chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. She reported on a variety of noteworthy stories including arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal and was frequently with the president Reagan to summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
